舊約背景
閱讀舊約聖經的人，許多都會感到研究古代近東歷史是異常繁複的事情。在研究的過程中，牽涉到不為人熟悉的原始文字、一大堆重要的考古發現；此外，我們還要懂得把東西方生活面貌分辨出來。由於希伯來人大大倚靠同時代近東文化生活的方式，因此我們若要明白以色列人的歷史，最好是把舊約的內容與該期間的文化背景及考古學資料一起研習。
本文庫主要是按歷史先後次序而編排，亦有加插特別研究專輯，嘗試去追溯這段歷史的大綱，並把在人文、考古、社會學等方面的發現，與舊約描述的事情一起論及，以期能使我們就著一些隱晦未明的事件；獲得啟發，且能把某些事件肯定的放置於古代近東生活的範圍來看。閱讀比較
本文庫的內容有分非會員及會員兩種。非會員能免費看到基本的部份，即歷史概要，會員除可以閱覽非會員所看到的內容以外，更可以閱讀深入討論的部份。會員以註冊電郵及密碼登入，即可閱覽所有部份。會員必須繳交年費，基本上是每年加幣30元，但除使用「百科網」外，亦可進入「博學城」。
